The Best and Worst Sony FE Lenses From PhotographyLife.com

The writers at Photography Life have posted a list of the “Best and Worst Sony FE Lenses” for the a7 camera system, based on performance analysis of each of the lenses. (The test doesn’t include the newly announced FE lenses, as they aren’t available yet.)

The site has ranked the Sony FE 35mm f.2.8 as the best and (surprisingly) the FE 24-70mm f/4 OSS as the worst lens, from an optical quality standpoint. We’d have put money on the FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS being a lower quality image than the 24-60 f/4. Our own real world tests favor the 55mm lens over the 35mm for the incredible quality of the images at wide aperture, but from a metrics standpoint we’re sure they’re correct.

Their full ranking is:

My daily shooter is Sony A1 with a vertical grip and various Sony lenses attached like the FE 20mm F1.8. Find more gear recommendations in our shop. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
