This weekend is the Glazer’s anniversary sale. The event brings together the Seattle photo community. It’s two days of epic sales, vendor demos, lectures, workshops, photowalks and more. I’ll miss the event for another I’m attending in Bend with Bike Hugger, but suggest you go.
As I wrote about for Shutterbug, many photographers still choose to shop at traditional brick-and-mortar photo specialty retail stores. That’s even with Amazon Prime delivering much of what Seattleites need within a few hours or a day.
Over 25 brand representatives will be in store over Friday & Saturday to demo gear, answer questions and lead free lectures and workshops. In conjunction with Glazer’s Anniversary sale, there are a variety of photowalks, demos, workshops, and lectures.
Find the schedule here. I’d suggest the one from Sigma, the lenses (besides Sony, of course) I’m taking with me this weekend. Here’s the description and the talk started at 3:15 on Friday.
Have you ever wondered what sets one lens apart from another or why there are so many different lenses to choose from? Join Sigma technical specialist Aaron Norberg for an introductory course on the fundamentals of imaging optics to learn all about lenses. In this presentation we’ll discuss the basic differences in focal lengths, compare the benefits of prime and zoom lenses, and lay out some of the considerations made in optical design as well as how Sigma approaches bringing our lineup to market. You’ll walk away knowing how to navigate through the broad range of lens options to pick the right one for you and how to put focal length and aperture to creative use in your own endeavors.
Considering the a7riv is shipping now, that’s the camera I suggest you demo while in store. Attached a Sigma lens to it too.
