This Sony 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 Lens Review by John Sison looks at Sony’s new all-in-one travel lens the24-240. We weren’t terribly impressed with the lens—the autofocus was kludgy and slow and the image quality falls off radically at the edges. Sison also notices the falloff toward the edges, though he also notes that much of the decrease in quality can be fixed in post. (We agree, though we prefer our lenses not needing to be corrected in the first place, of course.)
Simon’s review of the lens looks at the physical build of the lens, and the fly-by-wire controls, which are nice though a bit misleading. At the 24mm end of the range the lens is relatively compact (about the same size as the new Sony Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 lens) but when the lens is used at the 240mm distance it’s pretty enormous.
