The excellent Imaging Resource has just posted their review of the Sony a7II, and their experience mirrors our own testing. The Sony a7II review concluded that the camera is a vast improvement over the A7, but the autofocus performance isn’t on par yet with pro SLR systems from manufacturers like Canon and Nikon.
In some ways that’s to be expected—after all the pro DSLR systems have had years to perfect their technologies, and their higher price points include more powerful focusing systems. Since Sony touted the improvements to the autofocus system in the a7II, many were hoping for performance on par with a Nikon D4s or Canon 1D or at least a system like the Samsung NX1.
Our hands-on review will be up shortly, but in the meantime read the excellent piece on the a7 II.
