Last week, Sony announced a firmware update for the a7 II. Like the a7R II, a7S II and the new RX1R II, the Sony a7 II the update will gain a 14-Bit Uncompressed RAW option. The update also adds the option to access Phase Detect autofocus when using non-E mount lenses on the a7 II; including, Sony A-mount lenses, bringing speedier AF to the camera with a wider range of lenses. The update enables customization of the movie button as well.
On November 18, A7 II owners can download the new version 2.0 firmware at Sony’s e-support site www.esupport.sony.com on the product page for model “ILCE-7M2”.
