Shutterbug visited Sony’s Alpha Sony Technology factory in Chunburi, Thailand which manufactures Sony cameras, lenses and other imaging products.
While Shutterbug wasn’t permitted to shoot in sensitive areas, Sony allowed this clip of factory workers meticulously assembling, testing and boxing a Sony A7R II ($3,000 on Amazon) camera.
As with high-end bicycles (watch a factory visit on Bike Hugger), Sony cameras are made by hand and the video follows the process from start to finish.
According to Sony around 800 boxes, with two Sony A7R II camera kits per box, are produced each day for a total of 1,600 cameras. Considering the attention to detail and QC that goes into each model, the production rates are impressive.
