Composing Movement, An Eye for the Shot

Considering all mid-to pro level cameras are good these days—talked about that here—what matters most is the composition or in other words, having an “eye” for the shot. In this video, Tony Zhou dives deep into what makes a Kurosawa a Kurosawa: the movement of objects in the frame. Motion isn’t necessarily our thing, but we did shoot video for a story earlier this year with an A7S II. Not saying it’s anywhere near the work of Kurosawa, but the focus was on how the bike racers move on the road.

My daily shooter is Sony A1 with a vertical grip and various Sony lenses attached like the FE 20mm F1.8. Find more gear recommendations in our shop. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
