Choosing a system that matches his look, Sean Tucker posted a video about why he switched to Sony from Canon and Fujiflm.
Understanding “switched” stories make good YouTube headlines, I encourage photographers that ask me about mirrorless to take a from this day forward approach by starting to shoot with Sony, and adapting your lenses, instead of spending that much budget and taking the time to sell your old gear.
I recently made a total switch in my gear from Canon/Fujifilm to Sony. This video gives my reasoning and why the Sony system is best for my needs as a traveling hybrid shooter. I also give my thoughts on how we should be choosing gear in general, avoiding brand loyalty, gear snobbishness etc, and dispassionately choosing the right tool for the job. Starting at 9:00 minutes in, Sean goes into his reasons and notes he’s adapting glass too. To me, shooting with mirrorless is mostly about the weight reduction and how I can travel with far less gear.
The look is a more important driver for pros and I talk about that in a Digital Photo Pro story about finding a camera system you love.
I can get pretty close to perfection these days, though, and that’s because in the premium (as the Japanese call it) step-up camera market, there just aren’t any bad cameras. The only hard part is finding the system you love.
By the end of the year, the market will have even more choices in mirrorless from Nikon and Canon. I think the choice is obvious, go with the brand who has an 8 year lead on the others.
What’s most important the system you shoot with is that you love it and it meets your needs.
Look too.
