Sigma 30/f1.4 Contemporary Lens Review

For another take on Sigma lenses, and this time the 30/f1.4 Contemporary lens, read the Phoblographer’s review. Chris attached the lens to an A7.

The Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC DN lens is quite good overall. It feels nice in the hand, focuses quickly and accurately most of the time, and doesn’t give you the more typically well known Sigma color rendition. Instead, they seem to have toned it down a bit here with this lens. What you’ll need to look out for though is the purple fringing.

With the Art lens at 35MM and costing $400.00 more, I didn’t experience any purple fringing. Both lenses indicate the health of the Sony ecosystems and offer a great value for shooters. The Contemporary lens is a native E Mount so no adaptor is needed.

My daily shooter is Sony A1 with a vertical grip and various Sony lenses attached like the FE 20mm F1.8. Find more gear recommendations in our shop. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
