The Sony a7 focus peaking and zooming features are key and powerful tools for the photographer working with manual focus lenses that provide on-screen focus indication. Focus peaking provides a color overlay over parts of the image that will be in focus at any given settings, while AF zooming jumps into the currently in-focus area for critical focus selection.
There are numerous settings available to tailer the a7 focus peaking and zooming settings, and Sony Ambasador and Sony Mirrorless Pro contributor Mark Galer walks through the best settings and use of the settings in this excellent video. In this tutorial you’ll find out how to configure custom buttons to best toggle between AF and manual focus, how to change the sensitivity of the focus peaking and how to jump into your image to determine critical focus.
Mark Galer’s series of tutorial videos are available under the Alpha Creative Skills YouTube channel, you can find them all here.
