Not a lot of photographers get the opportunity to photograph New York City from a helicopter, but if you get the chance, be sure to watch this video from Parisian photographer and cinematographer Ramelli.
Even if you don’t get a chance to shoot from a chopper, the video is a great tutorial on shooting at low light in difficult situations, and Ramelli displays his post-process workflow steps as well.

In this episode I will show you the best settings that I used to shoot New York from the sky in a helicopter. This is something very difficult due to low light, the speed and movement. I don’t think it was possible to get this quality of photo, with such little noise, before cameras that are as good as the Sony A7s came out.
My daily shooter is Sony a9 II with a vertical grip and various Sigma lenses attached like the 14mm 1.4 Art. Find more gear recommendations in our shop. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
