When Sony added the FS 400mm F2.8 GM OSS lens to their full frame, E-Mount lens lineup last week, it gave their critics one less thing to complain about and those that have switched another reason to shoot with the best mirrorless system on the market.
At the top of the line, with a retail price of [amazon_textlink asin=’B07FHDZ3Z6′ text=’$11998′ template=’ProductLink’ store=’texturadesign-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’53f1d049-7e50-11e8-bd29-97c24013ddde’], the 400 two eight, is meant for those shooting on the sidelines of a big game.
Even if that isn’t your use case, Sony now has a complete lens line and here are the full-frame lenses I recommend.
This 16-35mm G Master is the sharpest wide angle zoom ever tested by DxO Mark. It has a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture zoom designed for full-frame E-mount mirrorless cameras offering consistent performance throughout the zoom range and benefits working in low-light conditions. The optical design incorporates two extra-low dispersion elements to reduce chromatic aberrations along with two XA elements and three aspherical elements, which significantly controls spherical aberrations for a high degree of image sharpness and clarity. Nano AR coating has been applied to limit ghosting and lens flare for increased contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions. A constant f/4 maximum aperture wide-angle zoom lens designed for full-frame E-mount cameras, can also be used with Sony APS mirrorless cameras. The 16-35mm features a circular aperture that, through the use of curved blades, keeps the aperture almost perfectly circular from its wide-open setting to when it is closed for smoother, more natural defocusing highlights.
